hello winter!

yay! snowflurries abound. light snowflakes this morning! very pretty. first snowflakes of the winter. it is freaking cold here. in the upper 20's expected to get much colder (with the windchill it feels like 10 degrees)...and i still haven't received my coat i ordered on nov 1. me thinks i can't wait for it, i'm going to have to get another coat.i might even have to get the puffy marshmallow coat. i don't even know where my gloves are (hm. do i have gloves??)

thoughts on the city. the conveniences of suburban life spoils you somewhat and i am learning to adjust to urban life. for sure, i've learned quickly that living in the city is expensive (duh - i knew that before even moving here) and parallel parking is a necessary evil. this is the first day they said it is really cold this season. they don't call it the windy city for nothing (that wind chill factor doesn't mess around).  i don't mind the cold, nor the snow...but its the wind that gets you. i totally feel for people who have to commute an hour so from the 'burbs by train (or by car - what hell sitting in that traffic must be) esp. when the temps drop.

city life still feels surreal but its worth all the effort thus far.
there is a grocery store around the corner, great restaurants a block away, garage parking...a lot of great things near by.  so there are a lot of conveniences as i'm beginning to find to urban life too.

i met the owner of the building this morning, very surprising how young he was. nice guy too.
